Women's Sexual Health
Hypoactive Sexual Desire Disorder (HSDD) is the most common sexual concern among women. Understanding it is the first step to restoring your connection to desire.

Low sexual desire -- clinically known as Hypoactive Sexual Desire Disorder (HSDD) -- is a persistent lack of interest in sexual activity that causes personal distress. It is not about "frequency" but about the absence of sexual thoughts, fantasies, and motivation for intimacy.
Studies show that up to one in three women experience low desire at some point. It can be lifelong or develop after years of normal desire, and it may be generalised (in all situations) or situational (only with a specific partner or context).
Dr Rosemary Basson's circular model of female sexual response showed that many women do not experience "spontaneous" desire (wanting sex out of the blue). Instead, they experience responsive desire -- desire that emerges after arousal has begun through touch, emotional closeness, or erotic context.
This means that "not feeling in the mood" before intimacy starts is completely normal for many women and does not indicate dysfunction. However, when even responsive desire is absent and this causes distress, treatment can help.
